A classic French email etiquette question!

In France, when sending an email, it's common to use the following abbreviations:

• CC stands for "Copie Conforme" which means "Carbon Copy". It's used to indicate that a copy of the email is being sent to someone who is not the primary recipient, but who should be informed of the content of the email.
• CCI stands for "Copie à l'Information" which means "Copy for Information". It's used to indicate that a copy of the email is being sent to someone who needs to be informed of the content, but who is not necessarily involved in the conversation or decision-making process.

CC: Pierre, Marie (they need to be informed of the meeting) CCI: Monsieur le Directeur (he needs to be informed of the meeting, but is not directly involved)

In this example, Pierre and Marie are being copied on the email because they need to be informed of the meeting, while Monsieur le Directeur is being copied for information only, as he is not directly involved in the meeting.
