Date format in word mail merge

In Microsoft Word, when using a mail merge, you can format the date field to display the date in a specific format. Here are the steps:

  1. Open your Word document and go to the "Mailings" tab in the ribbon.
  2. Click on the "Insert Merge Field" button in the "Write & Insert Fields" group.
  3. Select the date field you want to format (e.g. "Date" or "Created Date").
  4. Right-click on the field and select "Format Field".
  5. In the "Format Field" dialog box, click on the "Date" tab.
  6. Select the date format you want to use from the "Format" dropdown list. You can choose from a variety of formats, such as:
    • MM/DD/YYYY
    • YYYY-MM-DD
    • DD MMM YYYY
    • and many more
  7. Click "OK" to close the "Format Field" dialog box.

Alternatively, you can also use the "Date" field with a custom format string. To do this:

  1. Insert the "Date" field as described above.
  2. Right-click on the field and select "Format Field".
  3. In the "Format Field" dialog box, click on the "Custom" tab.
  4. In the "Format" field, enter a custom format string using the following syntax:
    • YYYY-MM-DD (e.g. 2022-07-25)
    • MM/DD/YYYY (e.g. 07/25/2022)
    • DD MMM YYYY (e.g. 25 Jul 2022)
  5. Click "OK" to close the "Format Field" dialog box.

Note that the custom format string is case-sensitive, so make sure to use the correct capitalization and punctuation.
