Deactivate gmail account
To deactivate a Gmail account, you'll need to follow these steps:
Note: Before deactivating your account, make sure you have access to the account and that you're prepared to lose all data associated with the account, including emails, contacts, and settings.
Method 1: Deactivate Gmail account using Google Account settings
- Sign in to your Google Account settings page: https://myaccount.google.com
- Click on the "Data & personalization" tab.
- Scroll down to the "Account preferences" section and click on "Delete your account or service".
- Select "Delete your account" and follow the prompts to confirm.
- You'll be asked to enter your password and confirm that you want to delete your account.
- Once you've confirmed, your account will be deactivated, and you won't be able to access it.
Method 2: Deactivate Gmail account using Gmail settings
- Sign in to your Gmail account.
- Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner of the page.
- Select "See all settings" from the dropdown menu.
- Click on the "Accounts and Import" tab.
- Scroll down to the "Delete account" section and click on "Delete account".
- Follow the prompts to confirm that you want to delete your account.
- Once you've confirmed, your account will be deactivated, and you won't be able to access it.
What happens when you deactivate a Gmail account?
When you deactivate a Gmail account, the following will happen:
- Your account will no longer be accessible.
- All emails, contacts, and settings associated with the account will be deleted.
- Any Google services linked to the account, such as Google Drive, Google Photos, or Google Calendar, will no longer be accessible.
- You won't be able to recover any data associated with the account.
