Define queued in gmail

In Gmail, "Queued" is a status label that appears next to an email message in your inbox or sent folder. It indicates that the email has been successfully sent by Gmail's servers, but it has not yet been delivered to the recipient's email server.

When an email is "Queued", it means that:

  1. Gmail has processed the email and added it to its outgoing queue.
  2. The email has been sent to the next hop in the delivery process, which is usually a mail relay or a mail exchanger (MX) server.
  3. The email is waiting to be delivered to the recipient's email server.

The "Queued" status is usually temporary and indicates that the email is in transit. Once the email is delivered to the recipient's email server, the status will change to "Delivered" or "Read" (if the recipient has opened the email).

Here are some possible reasons why an email might be "Queued" in Gmail:

  1. Network congestion or high traffic: The email is waiting in a queue because the recipient's email server or the internet connection is experiencing high traffic or congestion.
  2. DNS resolution issues: The email is waiting because the DNS (Domain Name System) resolution for the recipient's email address is taking longer than usual.
  3. Mail server issues: The email is waiting because the recipient's email server is experiencing technical issues or is down for maintenance.

If an email remains "Queued" for an extended period, you can try resending the email or contacting the recipient to check if they have received it.
