Delete mac mail storage

A common issue!

To delete Mac Mail storage, you can try the following methods:

Method 1: Delete Mailbox

  1. Open Mail on your Mac.
  2. Select the mailbox you want to delete (e.g., Inbox, Sent, Drafts, etc.).
  3. Right-click (or Control-click) on the mailbox and select "Delete Mailbox" from the context menu.
  4. Confirm that you want to delete the mailbox by clicking "Delete" in the dialog box.

Method 2: Empty Trash

  1. Open Mail on your Mac.
  2. Go to "Mail" > "Edit" > "Preferences" (or use the keyboard shortcut Command + Comma).
  3. Click on the "Accounts" tab.
  4. Select the account you want to empty the trash for.
  5. Click on the "Trash" tab.
  6. Click the "Empty Trash" button.

Method 3: Delete Mail Database

Warning: This method will delete all mail data, including messages, contacts, and settings. Use with caution!

  1. Open Terminal on your Mac (you can find it in Applications/Utilities or use Spotlight to search for it).
  2. Type the following command and press Enter:
    rm -rf ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData

    This will delete the Mail database, which will remove all mail data.

Method 4: Reset Mail

Warning: This method will reset all Mail settings and data. Use with caution!

  1. Open System Preferences on your Mac.
  2. Click on "Mail, Contacts, Calendars".
  3. Click on the "Accounts" tab.
  4. Select the account you want to reset.
