Deleting hotmail account

To delete a Hotmail account, you'll need to follow these steps:

Method 1: Delete account through Microsoft Account settings

  1. Sign in to your Hotmail account on the Microsoft website.
  2. Click on your profile picture or initials in the top right corner, then select "View account" from the dropdown menu.
  3. Click on "Security" from the menu on the left.
  4. Scroll down to the "Account actions" section and click on "Delete account".
  5. Enter your password to confirm you want to delete the account.
  6. Click on "Delete account" to confirm.

Method 2: Delete account through Outlook.com

  1. Sign in to your Hotmail account on the Outlook.com website.
  2. Click on the gear icon in the top right corner, then select "View all Outlook settings".
  3. Click on "Account" from the menu on the left.
  4. Scroll down to the "Account actions" section and click on "Delete account".
  5. Enter your password to confirm you want to delete the account.
  6. Click on "Delete account" to confirm.

Important notes:

Alternative option: Downgrade to Outlook.com

If you're not ready to delete your Hotmail account entirely, you can downgrade it to an Outlook.com account. This will allow you to keep your email address and access your account, but you won't be able to use the Hotmail.com domain.

To downgrade your account:

  1. Sign in to your Hotmail account on the Microsoft website.
  2. Click on your profile picture or initials in the top right corner, then select "View account" from the dropdown menu.
  3. Click on "Settings" from the menu on the left.
  4. Scroll down to the "Account actions" section and click on "Downgrade to Outlook.com".
  5. Follow the prompts to complete the downgrade process.

Keep in mind that downgrading your account will change the domain name from Hotmail.com to Outlook.com.
