Do mails in drafts get deleted by themselves
The eternal question about drafts!
In most email clients, including Gmail, Outlook, and Yahoo Mail, drafts are not automatically deleted after a certain period of time. However, there are some exceptions and considerations:
- Gmail: Gmail has a feature called "Auto-expunge" that deletes drafts older than 30 days. This is a server-side setting, so it applies to all drafts in your Gmail account, regardless of the client you use to access your account. To disable auto-expunge, go to Settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP > IMAP Access and uncheck the box next to "Enable IMAP".
- Outlook: Outlook for Windows and Outlook.com do not have a built-in feature to automatically delete drafts. However, if you use Outlook's "Clean Up" feature, it may delete drafts that are no longer needed. To access Clean Up, go to the "Home" tab > "Clean Up" > "Clean Up Folder".
- Yahoo Mail: Yahoo Mail does not have a built-in feature to automatically delete drafts. However, if you use Yahoo Mail's "Unsubscribe" feature, it may delete drafts that are no longer needed.
In general, it's a good idea to regularly review and manage your drafts to avoid clutter and ensure you don't lose important messages. You can do this by:
- Regularly checking your drafts folder and deleting any messages you no longer need.
- Using filters or labels to categorize and prioritize your drafts.
- Setting reminders or due dates for drafts that require follow-up.
- Using third-party email clients or plugins that offer features like automatic draft deletion or organization.
Remember, it's always a good idea to regularly back up your email account and data to prevent loss of important messages.
