Do not inline pdfs in mac mail

A common issue!

By default, macOS Mail app will inline PDF attachments, which can make them difficult to save or print. Here's how to prevent inline PDFs in Mac Mail:

Method 1: Disable inline PDFs in Mail preferences

  1. Open Mail on your Mac.
  2. Go to Mail > Preferences (or press Cmd +,).
  3. Click on the "General" tab.
  4. Uncheck the box next to "Show PDFs in the message body".
  5. Click "OK" to save the changes.

Method 2: Use a third-party plugin

There are several third-party plugins available that can help you prevent inline PDFs in Mac Mail. One popular option is "PDF Viewer" by Panic.

  1. Download and install PDF Viewer from the Panic website.
  2. Launch PDF Viewer and follow the instructions to set it as your default PDF viewer.
  3. In Mail, go to Mail > Preferences > General and select "PDF Viewer" as your PDF viewer.

Method 3: Use a workaround

If you don't want to install a third-party plugin, you can use a workaround:

  1. Open Mail and select the message with the PDF attachment.
  2. Click on the "View" menu and select "Download Original" (or press Cmd + Shift + D).
  3. This will download the PDF attachment as a separate file, rather than inlining it in the message body.

By using one of these methods, you should be able to prevent inline PDFs in Mac Mail and keep your attachments separate and easily accessible.
