Do you pay to forward mail
In the United States, the United States Postal Service (USPS) offers a service called "Mail Forwarding" or "Change of Address" that allows you to forward your mail to a new address. The cost of mail forwarding depends on the type of service you choose and the length of time you need it.
Here are the current rates for USPS Mail Forwarding:
Domestic Mail Forwarding
- 6 months: $20.00
- 12 months: $40.00
- 24 months: $80.00
International Mail Forwarding
- 6 months: $30.00
- 12 months: $60.00
- 24 months: $120.00
Additional Fees
- Each additional piece of mail forwarded: $0.50
- Each additional package forwarded: $2.00
How it Works
- Fill out the Change of Address form (PS Form 3575) and submit it to the USPS.
- Choose the length of time you want to forward your mail (6 months, 12 months, or 24 months).
- Pay the applicable fee.
- The USPS will forward your mail to your new address for the chosen period.
Tips
- You can only forward mail to a domestic or international address that is not a PO box.
- You can't forward mail to a temporary or seasonal address.
- You can't forward mail to an address that is not in the same country as your original address.
- You can cancel your mail forwarding service at any time, but you'll need to pay any outstanding fees.
It's worth noting that there may be additional fees or requirements depending on the type of mail you're forwarding, such as packages or certified mail. It's always a good idea to check with the USPS or consult their website for the most up-to-date information on mail forwarding rates and services.
