Does a windows 10 file backup include live mail emails

By default, the built-in File History feature in Windows 10 does not include email data from Live Mail (or any other email client) in its backups. File History is designed to backup files and folders on your computer, but it does not have the capability to backup email data.

However, there are a few ways to backup your Live Mail emails:

  1. Export emails from Live Mail: You can export your emails from Live Mail to a PST file, which can then be backed up using File History or another backup method. To do this, follow these steps:
    • Open Live Mail.
    • Go to "File" > "Export" > "Export to a file".
    • Choose the "PST" file format and select the folders you want to export.
    • Choose a location to save the exported PST file.
  2. Use a third-party email backup tool: There are several third-party tools available that can backup your Live Mail emails, such as EaseUS Todo Backup, Acronis True Image, or EaseUS Email Backup. These tools can backup your emails to a variety of locations, including external hard drives, cloud storage services, or network locations.
  3. Use Windows Backup: Windows Backup (also known as Windows Backup and Restore) is a built-in feature in Windows 10 that can backup your system, including your email data. To use Windows Backup to backup your Live Mail emails, follow these steps:
    • Open the "Control Panel" and go to "System and Security" > "Backup and Restore (Windows Backup)".
    • Click on "Create a system image" and select the drives you want to backup.
    • In the "Backup options" window, select the "Let me choose what to back up" option.
    • In the "Backup items" window, select the "Email" option and choose the Live Mail profile you want to backup.
    • Choose a location to save the backup and click "Save".

Note that Windows Backup may not be able to backup your Live Mail emails if they are stored in a non-standard location or if you have customized your email settings. In such cases, you may need to use a third-party email backup tool or export your emails to a PST file as described above.
