Does avast scan windows 10 mail automatically
Avast Antivirus does offer email scanning capabilities, but it doesn't scan Windows 10 Mail (formerly known as Windows Live Mail) automatically by default.
However, you can configure Avast to scan your email attachments and messages using the following methods:
- Avast Email Scanner: Avast offers a dedicated email scanner that can scan your email attachments and messages. To enable it, follow these steps:
- Open Avast and go to the "Protection" tab.
- Click on "Email" and toggle the switch to "On".
- Configure the email scanner settings as desired (e.g., scan attachments, scan messages, etc.).
- Avast Browser Extension: Avast also offers a browser extension that can scan email attachments and messages in your web-based email clients, including Gmail, Yahoo Mail, and Outlook.com. To enable it:
- Install the Avast browser extension (if you haven't already).
- Go to the Avast browser extension settings and toggle the switch to "On" for email scanning.
- Third-party Email Clients: If you use a third-party email client like Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, or Mozilla SeaMonkey, you can configure Avast to scan those email clients as well. To do so:
- Open Avast and go to the "Protection" tab.
- Click on "Email" and select the email client you want to scan.
- Follow the prompts to configure the email scanning settings.
Keep in mind that Avast may not scan Windows 10 Mail (formerly Windows Live Mail) automatically, as it's a built-in Windows application. However, by using one of the above methods, you can still scan your email attachments and messages for malware and other threats.
