Informed Delivery does not typically show held mail in the digital preview, as held mail is typically held at the local post office or delivery unit for various reasons, such as:
- Address correction: The address on the mailpiece is incorrect or incomplete, and the mailpiece is being held for correction.
- Package signature required: The mailpiece requires a signature upon delivery, and the recipient is not available to sign for it.
- Package too large or heavy: The mailpiece is too large or heavy to be delivered to the recipient's mailbox, and it is being held for pickup at the post office.
- Package damaged: The mailpiece is damaged during transit and is being held for repair or replacement.
However, if the held mail is eventually delivered to the recipient's mailbox, it will be included in the Informed Delivery digital preview. The preview will show the front side of the mailpiece, and the recipient can use the Informed Delivery app or website to view the image and confirm delivery.
It's worth noting that Informed Delivery is not a guarantee of delivery, and mailpieces can still be delayed or returned to sender even if they are included in the digital preview.
