Does kentucky have mail in voting

Kentucky does not currently offer mail-in voting for all voters. However, there are some exceptions and options available:

  1. Absentee voting: Kentucky allows voters to request an absentee ballot by mail or online. To request an absentee ballot, voters must submit a written request to their county clerk's office at least 7 days before the election. The request must include the voter's name, address, date of birth, and signature.
  2. Absentee voting for military and overseas voters: Kentucky allows military and overseas voters to request an absentee ballot by mail or online. These voters can request an absentee ballot up to 45 days before the election.
  3. Absentee voting for voters with disabilities: Kentucky allows voters with disabilities to request an absentee ballot by mail or online. These voters can request an absentee ballot up to 7 days before the election.
  4. Vote-by-mail pilot program: In 2020, Kentucky launched a vote-by-mail pilot program in several counties, including Jefferson, Fayette, and Boone counties. The program allowed voters to request a ballot by mail and return it by mail or in-person. However, this program is not currently available statewide.

It's worth noting that Kentucky has a voter ID law, which requires voters to show identification at the polls. Additionally, Kentucky has a voter registration deadline of 28 days before the election.

If you're a Kentucky voter and want to request an absentee ballot, you can contact your county clerk's office or visit the Kentucky State Board of Elections website for more information.
