Does scale mail give disadvantage on stealth

According to the 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons Player's Handbook, scale mail does not impose a disadvantage on Stealth checks.

In the "Armor" section of the book, it states:

"Scale mail: This armor is made up of interlocking metal scales that provide good protection. It has a base armor class of 18, and it does not impose any special penalties on movement or other actions."

The Stealth skill, on the other hand, is governed by the "Stealth" skill description, which states:

"When you make a Stealth check, you can add your proficiency bonus to the roll if you have proficiency with the Stealth skill. You can also add your Dexterity modifier to the roll, as well as any other bonuses or penalties that might apply."

There is no mention of armor type, including scale mail, imposing a disadvantage on Stealth checks.

So, to answer your question, scale mail does not give a disadvantage on Stealth checks.
