Does windows live mail do imap

The nostalgia of Windows Live Mail!

Unfortunately, Windows Live Mail (WLM) does not support IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) out of the box. WLM uses its own proprietary protocol, called MAPI (Messaging Application Programming Interface), to connect to email accounts.

However, there are a few workarounds to access your IMAP email accounts in WLM:

  1. Use a third-party add-in: There are several third-party add-ins available that can enable IMAP support in WLM. Some popular options include:
    • IMAP Enabler: A free add-in that allows WLM to connect to IMAP servers.
    • IMAP for Windows Live Mail: A paid add-in that provides IMAP support and additional features.
  2. Use a third-party email client: You can use a third-party email client that supports IMAP, such as Mozilla Thunderbird, Microsoft Outlook, or Apple Mail, to access your IMAP email accounts. Then, you can use WLM as a secondary email client to access your email accounts.
  3. Use a web-based email client: If you only need to access your IMAP email accounts occasionally, you can use a web-based email client like Gmail or Outlook.com, which supports IMAP.

Keep in mind that using a third-party add-in or email client may require some configuration and setup to get everything working correctly.
