Eddm mailer requirements

EDDM (Every Door Direct Mail) is a cost-effective way to reach potential customers in a specific geographic area. Here are the basic requirements to send an EDDM mailer:

  1. Mailer size and weight: EDDM mailers must be at least 6.5 inches tall and 11.5 inches long, and no more than 15 inches tall and 23 inches long. The maximum weight is 3.5 ounces.
  2. Mailer content: EDDM mailers can contain any type of content, including advertisements, flyers, brochures, and promotional materials.
  3. Targeted geographic area: EDDM mailers must be targeted to a specific geographic area, such as a neighborhood, city, or zip code.
  4. Carrier route: EDDM mailers must be sorted by carrier route, which is a specific delivery route assigned to a mail carrier.
  5. Addressing: EDDM mailers do not require individual addresses, as they are delivered to every door on a carrier route. However, you can include a limited number of individual addresses, such as for businesses or apartment complexes.
  6. Postage: EDDM mailers are subject to a flat rate postage fee, which is currently $0.184 per piece (as of 2022).
  7. Mail preparation: EDDM mailers must be prepared according to USPS guidelines, including:
    • Using a USPS-approved EDDM mailer template
    • Including a clear and concise message
    • Using a font size of at least 10 points
    • Including a return address
  8. Mail acceptance: EDDM mailers must be accepted by the USPS at a designated EDDM acceptance location, such as a post office or mail center.
  9. Delivery: EDDM mailers are delivered to every door on the designated carrier route, typically within 3-5 business days.

It's important to note that EDDM mailers are subject to USPS regulations and guidelines, and failure to comply with these requirements may result in delays or rejection of your mailer.
