Email settings for hotmail
Here are the email settings for Hotmail:
Incoming Mail Server:
- Server name: outlook.office365.com
- Port: 993
- Encryption: SSL/TLS
- Authentication: SSL/TLS
Outgoing Mail Server:
- Server name: smtp.office365.com
- Port: 587
- Encryption: TLS
- Authentication: TLS
Additional Settings:
- Username: Your Hotmail email address (e.g. [yourname]@hotmail.com)
- Password: Your Hotmail email password
- IMAP: Yes
- SMTP: Yes
- POP3: Yes
Notes:
- Hotmail has been rebranded as Outlook.com, but the email settings remain the same.
- If you're using a third-party email client, you may need to enter the above settings manually.
- If you're having trouble connecting to your Hotmail account, try checking your account settings or contacting Microsoft support.
Here are the steps to set up your Hotmail account in popular email clients:
Outlook:
- Open Outlook and go to File > Add Account.
- Select "Manual setup or additional server types" and click Next.
- Select "POP or IMAP" and click Next.
- Enter your Hotmail email address, password, and incoming and outgoing server settings (above).
- Click Next and then Finish.
Thunderbird:
- Open Thunderbird and go to Tools > Account Settings.
- Click on "Email" and then "Add Mail Account".
- Enter your Hotmail email address and password.
- Select "Manual setup" and click Next.
- Enter the incoming and outgoing server settings (above).
- Click Next and then Finish.
iPhone/iPad:
- Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
- Tap "Add Account" and select "Other".
- Enter your Hotmail email address and password.
- Select "IMAP" as the account type.
- Enter the incoming and outgoing server settings (above).
- Tap "Next" and then "Save".
Android:
- Go to Settings > Accounts > Add account.
- Select "Personal (IMAP)" and enter your Hotmail email address and password.
- Select "IMAP" as the account type.
- Enter the incoming and outgoing server settings (above).
- Tap "Next" and then "Finish".
