Emich email settings outlook
To set up your EMU email account in Outlook, follow these steps:
Step 1: Add a new email account in Outlook
- Open Outlook and click on the "File" tab.
- Click on "Add Account" and then select "Manual setup or additional server types".
- Select "POP or IMAP" and click "Next".
Step 2: Enter your email account settings
- In the "User Information" section, enter your name and email address.
- In the "Server Information" section, enter the following settings:
- "Incoming mail server" (IMAP): imap.emich.edu
- "Outgoing mail server" (SMTP): smtp.emich.edu
- "User Name": your EMU email address (e.g. [yourname]@emich.edu)
- "Password": your EMU email password
- Click "Next" to continue.
Step 3: Set up your account
- Outlook will attempt to connect to your email account. If successful, you will see a confirmation message.
- Click "Finish" to complete the setup process.
Additional settings
- If you want to use SSL encryption, select "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)" in the "Server Information" section.
- If you want to use a different port number, you can specify it in the "Incoming mail server" and "Outgoing mail server" fields. For example, you can use port 993 for IMAP and port 587 for SMTP.
Troubleshooting tips
- If you are having trouble connecting to your email account, make sure that your password is correct and that your account is not locked out.
- If you are using a firewall or antivirus software, make sure that it is not blocking the connection to your email account.
