Emory email setup outlook

To set up Emory email in Outlook, follow these steps:

Step 1: Create a new profile in Outlook

  1. Open Outlook and go to File > Add Account.
  2. Click on "Manual setup or additional server types" and then click "Next".
  3. Select "POP or IMAP" and click "Next".
  4. Enter the following information:
    • Your Name: Your full name (e.g., John Doe)
    • Email Address: Your Emory email address (e.g., [email protected])
    • Account Type: POP3
    • Incoming mail server: mail.emory.edu
    • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): mail.emory.edu
    • User Name: Your Emory email address (e.g., [email protected])
    • Password: Your Emory email password
  5. Click "Next" and then "Finish".

Step 2: Configure the account settings

  1. Go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings.
  2. Select the Emory email account and click "Change".
  3. In the "Change Account" window, select "More Settings" and then click "Next".
  4. In the "Internet E-mail Settings" window, enter the following information:
    • My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication: Checked
    • Use same settings as my incoming mail server: Checked
  5. Click "OK" to close the "Internet E-mail Settings" window.
  6. Click "Next" and then "Finish".

Step 3: Set up the account to use IMAP

  1. Go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings.
  2. Select the Emory email account and click "Change".
  3. In the "Change Account" window, select "More Settings" and then click "Next".
  4. In the "Internet E-mail Settings" window, select the "Advanced" tab.
  5. Under "Incoming server", select "IMAP" and enter the following information:
    • Incoming mail server: mail.emory.edu
    • Port: 143
  6. Under "Outgoing server", select "SMTP" and enter the following information:
    • Outgoing mail server: mail.emory.edu
    • Port: 587
  7. Click "OK" to close the "Internet E-mail Settings" window.
  8. Click "Next" and then "Finish".

Step 4: Test the account

  1. Go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings.
  2. Select the Emory email account and click "Test Account Settings".
  3. Outlook will attempt to connect to the Emory email server and retrieve your email. If everything is set up correctly, you should see a success message.
