Flinders email setup

To set up an email account on Flinders University's email system, you'll need to follow these steps:

Step 1: Activate your Flinders email account

  1. Go to the Flinders University website (www.flinders.edu.au) and click on "Student" or "Staff" depending on your affiliation with the university.
  2. Click on "My Flinders" and log in with your Flinders username and password.
  3. Click on "Email" and then "Activate Email" to set up your email account.

Step 2: Set up your email client

  1. Choose an email client: You can use a web-based email client like Outlook Web App or set up an email client on your device (e.g., Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird).
  2. Set up your email client:
    • For Outlook Web App: Go to outlook.office.com and log in with your Flinders username and password.
    • For Microsoft Outlook: Open Microsoft Outlook and click on "File" > "Add Account" > "Manual setup or additional server types" > "Microsoft Exchange" and enter the following settings:
      • Server: outlook.office365.com
      • User Name: your Flinders username
      • Password: your Flinders password
      • Domain: flinders.edu.au
    • For Mozilla Thunderbird: Open Mozilla Thunderbird and click on "File" > "New" > "Email Account" and enter the following settings:
      • Your Name: your name
      • Email Address: your Flinders email address
      • Server: outlook.office365.com
      • User Name: your Flinders username
      • Password: your Flinders password
      • Port: 587 (for SMTP) or 993 (for IMAP)

Step 3: Configure your email settings

  1. Set up your email settings:
    • For Outlook Web App: Go to outlook.office.com and click on the gear icon > "View all Outlook settings" > "Mail" > "Accounts" > "Your email account" and enter the following settings:
      • Display name: your name
      • Reply to: your Flinders email address
      • Signature: your name and contact information
    • For Microsoft Outlook: Go to "File" > "Options" > "Mail" and enter the following settings:
      • Display name: your name
      • Reply to: your Flinders email address
      • Signature: your name and contact information
    • For Mozilla Thunderbird: Go to "Tools" > "Account Settings" > "Your email account" and enter the following settings:
      • Display name: your name
      • Reply to: your Flinders email address
      • Signature: your name and contact information

Step 4: Verify your email account

  1. Verify your email account:
    • Go to outlook.office.com and log in with your Flinders username and password.
    • Click on the gear icon > "View all Outlook settings" > "Mail" > "Accounts" > "Your email account" and verify that your email account is set up correctly.
