Gmail archived mail retrieve
The joys of archived emails!
Archived emails in Gmail are still stored on Google's servers, but they are not visible in your inbox or search results by default. However, you can retrieve them using a few methods:
Method 1: Search for archived emails
- Log in to your Gmail account.
- Click on the search bar at the top of the page.
- Type
in:archive
followed by your search query (e.g.,in:archive from:[email protected]
). - Press Enter to execute the search.
- Gmail will display a list of archived emails that match your search query.
Method 2: Use the "Show search results from" dropdown
- Log in to your Gmail account.
- Click on the search bar at the top of the page.
- Type your search query (e.g.,
from:[email protected]
). - Click on the "Show search results from" dropdown menu.
- Select "Archived" from the dropdown list.
- Gmail will display a list of archived emails that match your search query.
Method 3: Use the Gmail API or IMAP
If you need to programmatically retrieve archived emails or access them from another application, you can use the Gmail API or IMAP protocol.
- Gmail API: You can use the Gmail API to retrieve archived emails by making a GET request to the
users.messages.list
endpoint with thelabelIds
parameter set toINBOX
andARCHIVED
. - IMAP: You can use IMAP to connect to your Gmail account and retrieve archived emails using the
INBOX
andARCHIVED
folders.
Note: When you retrieve archived emails, they will be moved back to your inbox. If you want to keep them archived, you can use the move
method to move them back to the ARCHIVED
folder.
