Gmail mail goggles
The infamous Gmail "Mail Goggles"!
Mail Goggles is a feature in Gmail that was introduced in 2009 as a way to help users avoid sending emails when they're feeling a little too tipsy or emotional. It's a tongue-in-cheek way to prevent users from sending regrettable emails, especially in the heat of the moment.
Here's how it works:
- When you're composing an email, you can enable Mail Goggles by clicking on the "Mail Goggles" button at the bottom of the compose window.
- Gmail will then ask you to confirm that you're sure you want to send the email. If you're not sure, it will ask you to wait for a few minutes before sending the email.
- If you're still unsure, Gmail will ask you to solve a simple math problem to prove that you're not too drunk or emotional to send the email.
The idea behind Mail Goggles is to give users a moment to reflect on their emotions and make sure they're sending an email that they won't regret later. It's a lighthearted way to encourage users to think before they click "Send".
While Mail Goggles is no longer a default feature in Gmail, you can still enable it by searching for "Mail Goggles" in the Gmail settings menu.
