Gmail or hotmail 2014
A blast from the past!
In 2014, both Gmail and Hotmail were still popular email services, but they were owned by different companies.
Gmail:
- Gmail was launched in 2004 by Google and had become one of the most popular email services in the world.
- In 2014, Gmail had over 1 billion active users.
- Gmail was known for its generous storage space (up to 15 GB free), advanced search functionality, and integration with other Google services like Google Drive and Google Calendar.
Hotmail:
- Hotmail was launched in 1996 by Sabeer Bhatia and Jack Smith, and was acquired by Microsoft in 1997.
- In 2014, Hotmail had around 300 million active users.
- Hotmail was known for its simplicity and ease of use, as well as its integration with other Microsoft services like Outlook.com and Windows Live.
In 2014, Microsoft was in the process of transitioning Hotmail users to Outlook.com, a new email service that was designed to be more modern and feature-rich. The transition was completed in 2013, and Hotmail was eventually phased out.
So, if you were using email in 2014, you were likely using Gmail or Outlook.com (formerly Hotmail)!
