Gmail outgoing mail
Gmail's outgoing mail settings allow you to configure how your emails are sent and received. Here are some common settings and options:
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
- Server:

Authentication
- Authentication method:

Encryption

Other settings
- Timeout: The time it takes for Gmail to wait for a response from the server before timing out (default is 30 seconds)
- Maximum message size: The maximum size of an email message that can be sent (default is 25MB)
Less secure apps
- Allow less secure apps: If you want to allow apps that don't use modern security standards to access your account (not recommended)
2-Step Verification
- 2-Step Verification: If you have 2-Step Verification enabled, you'll need to generate an App Password or use Google's built-in OAuth2 flow
IMAP and POP
- IMAP: Enable or disable IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) to access your emails on other devices
- POP: Enable or disable POP (Post Office Protocol) to download emails to your device
Settings for specific devices or apps
- Android: Go to Settings > Accounts > Google > Gmail > Settings > Outgoing server
- iPhone: Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Gmail > Outgoing Mail Server
- Thunderbird: Go to Tools > Account Settings > Outgoing Server (SMTP)
