Gmail web slices and
You're referring to Gmail's "Slices" feature!
Gmail Slices is a feature that allows you to quickly access and manage specific parts of an email, such as a package tracking number, a flight itinerary, or a hotel reservation. It's designed to make it easier to find and take action on the information you need, without having to open the entire email.
Here's how it works:
- When you receive an email with a specific type of content, such as a package tracking number or a flight itinerary, Gmail's algorithms will automatically identify it and create a "Slice" for it.
- The Slice will appear as a small card or snippet within the email list view, with a brief summary of the content.
- You can click on the Slice to expand it and view more details, or take action on the information, such as tracking your package or checking in for your flight.
- You can also use the Slice to quickly reply to the email or forward it to someone else.
Gmail Slices are currently available for the following types of content:
- Package tracking numbers
- Flight itineraries
- Hotel reservations
- Event invitations
- Meeting requests
- Task assignments
To enable Gmail Slices, make sure you're using the latest version of the Gmail web app, and then follow these steps:
- Log in to your Gmail account.
- Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner of the page.
- Select "See all settings" from the dropdown menu.
- Scroll down to the "General" tab.
- Look for the "Slices" section and toggle the switch to "On".
Once you've enabled Slices, you should start seeing them appear in your email list view.
