To set up Gmail in Windows Live Mail, you'll need to follow these steps:

Step 1: Create a new email account in Windows Live Mail

  1. Open Windows Live Mail and click on "Email" in the top menu bar.
  2. Click on "Accounts" and then "Add an email account".
  3. Select "Manual setup or additional server types" and click "Next".
  4. Choose "POP" or "IMAP" as the account type, depending on your preference.

Step 2: Enter your Gmail account settings

  1. In the "Account name" field, enter your name as you want it to appear in the "From" field of your emails.
  2. In the "Email address" field, enter your Gmail address (e.g., [email protected]).
  3. In the "Password" field, enter your Gmail password.
  4. In the "POP3" or "IMAP" server field, enter the following settings:
    • POP3: pop.gmail.com (port 995)
    • IMAP: imap.gmail.com (port 993)
  5. In the "Username" field, enter your Gmail address (e.g., [email protected]).
  6. In the "Password" field, re-enter your Gmail password.

Step 3: Configure additional settings (optional)

  1. If you want to use SSL encryption, check the box next to "Use SSL to connect to the server".
  2. If you want to use a different port number, enter it in the "Port" field.
  3. If you want to use a different authentication method, select it from the "Authentication" dropdown menu.

Step 4: Finish setting up your account

  1. Click "Next" to continue.
  2. Windows Live Mail will test your account settings. If everything is correct, you'll see a success message.
  3. Click "Finish" to complete the setup process.
