The convenience of holding mail delivery!
If you're going to be away from your mailbox for an extended period and don't want your mail to pile up, you can request that your mail carrier hold your mail delivery. Here's how:
USPS (United States Postal Service)
- Contact your local post office or mail carrier: You can visit your local post office or call the USPS customer service number (1-800-275-8777) to speak with a representative.
- Request a mail hold: Let them know that you'd like to hold your mail delivery for a specific period, such as a week, two weeks, or a month.
- Provide your address and dates: Give them your mailing address and the dates you'd like to hold your mail delivery.
- Confirm the hold: The post office will confirm the hold and let you know when your mail will be held.

- USPS Hold Mail Service: You can also use the USPS Hold Mail Service online tool to request a mail hold. Simply enter your address, select the dates you'd like to hold your mail, and confirm your request.
- Vacation Hold: Some post offices offer a Vacation Hold service, which allows you to hold your mail for a specific period (usually up to 30 days). You can request this service by visiting your local post office or calling the USPS customer service number.
Important notes
- Mail holds are usually only available for a maximum of 30 days.
- If you're holding your mail for an extended period, you may want to consider having a trusted neighbor or friend collect your mail or consider using a mail forwarding service.
- If you're holding your mail and then need to have it forwarded to a new address, you'll need to contact the post office and request a mail forwarding service.
