Hold mail form post office
The convenient "Hold Mail" service from the United States Postal Service (USPS)!
Here's how it works:
What is Hold Mail? Hold Mail is a service that allows you to temporarily suspend mail delivery to your address while you're away. This can be useful if you're going on vacation, moving, or need to take a break from receiving mail.
How to request Hold Mail:
- Online: Go to the USPS website (usps.com) and click on "Hold Mail" under the "Mail & Ship" tab. Fill out the online form with your name, address, and dates you want to hold your mail.
- Phone: Call the USPS Customer Service number at 1-800-275-8777 (1-800-ASK-USPS) and ask to request a Hold Mail service.
- In-person: Visit your local post office and ask to request a Hold Mail service. You'll need to provide your name, address, and dates you want to hold your mail.
What happens when you request Hold Mail:
- The USPS will hold your mail at the post office for the specified dates.
- You can choose to have your mail held for a specific number of days (up to 30 days) or until a specific date.
- If you need to receive mail during the hold period, you can request that it be delivered to a specific address or held at the post office for pickup.
Important notes:
- Hold Mail requests must be made at least 3 business days in advance.
- You can only request Hold Mail for a maximum of 30 days at a time.
- If you need to extend your Hold Mail period, you'll need to contact the USPS again and request an extension.
- Hold Mail does not apply to packages or certified mail. These items will still be delivered to your address.
By requesting Hold Mail, you can ensure that your mail is safe and secure while you're away, and you won't have to worry about missing important deliveries or having your mail stolen.
