Hot:mail

A blast from the past!

Hotmail was one of the first free web-based email services, launched in 1996 by Sabeer Bhatia and Jack Smith. It was acquired by Microsoft in 1997 and became a popular alternative to traditional email clients.

Hotmail was known for its simplicity, ease of use, and innovative features, such as the ability to access email from any internet-connected computer. It also introduced the concept of "web-based" email, where users could access their email accounts from any device with an internet connection.

At its peak, Hotmail had over 100 million users, making it one of the most popular email services in the world. However, with the rise of newer email services like Gmail and Yahoo! Mail, Hotmail's popularity declined, and Microsoft eventually rebranded it as Outlook.com in 2012.
