Hotmail imap account settings
Here are the IMAP account settings for a Hotmail account:
Server Settings:
- Incoming (IMAP) Server: imap-mail.outlook.com
- Port: 993
- Security: SSL/TLS
- Authentication: Password
Outgoing (SMTP) Server:
- SMTP Server: smtp-mail.outlook.com
- Port: 587
- Security: TLS
- Authentication: Password
Additional Settings:
- Username: Your Hotmail email address (e.g., [your_email_address]@hotmail.com)
- Password: Your Hotmail account password
- Folder: You can set the default folder for your IMAP account. For example, you can set it to "Inbox" or "Drafts".
Notes:
- Make sure to enable IMAP in your Hotmail account settings. To do this, log in to your Hotmail account, click on the gear icon, and select "View all Outlook settings". Then, click on "Mail" and toggle the switch next to "IMAP" to the "On" position.
- If you're using a third-party email client, you may need to configure the account settings manually. Consult the client's documentation for instructions on how to do this.
- Hotmail uses OAuth 2.0 for authentication, so you may need to generate an app password if you're using a third-party email client. To do this, log in to your Hotmail account, click on the gear icon, and select "View all Outlook settings". Then, click on "Account", and select "Security" from the menu. Click on "App passwords" and follow the instructions to generate a new app password.
