To set up Hotmail (now Outlook.com) on your Mac using IMAP, follow these steps:

Step 1: Enable IMAP in your Outlook.com account

  1. Log in to your Outlook.com account.
  2. Click on the gear icon in the top right corner and select "View all Outlook settings".
  3. Click on "Mail" and then scroll down to the "Accounts" section.
  4. Click on "Edit" next to "Account settings".
  5. Under "Account type", select "IMAP" and click "Save".

Step 2: Set up your Mac's email client

  1. Open the Mail app on your Mac.
  2. Click on "Mail" in the top menu bar and select "Preferences".

Step 3: Verify your account settings

  1. Go back to the Mail app and select the new account from the list.
  2. Click on the "Account" menu and select "Get Info".
  3. Verify that the account settings match the ones you entered in Step 2.
  4. If everything looks correct, click "OK" to close the window.

Step 4: Sync your email

  1. Go back to the Mail app and select the new account from the list.
  2. Click on the "Sync" button in the top right corner of the window.
  3. Wait for the email to sync with your Mac.
