Hotmail imap4
Hotmail!
Hotmail, now known as Outlook.com, uses a proprietary protocol for accessing email accounts, which is different from the standard IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) protocol. However, you can still access your Hotmail account using IMAP4 (Internet Message Access Protocol version 4) with some workarounds.
Here's how:
Method 1: Using Outlook.com's built-in IMAP settings
- Log in to your Outlook.com account.
- Click on the gear icon () and select "View all Outlook settings."
- Scroll down to the "Accounts" section and click on "Connected accounts."
- Click on "Add an account" and select "Other email provider."
- Enter your email address and password, and select "IMAP" as the protocol.
- Fill in the IMAP settings:
- Server: imap-mail.outlook.com
- Port: 993 (SSL/TLS)
- Username: your email address
- Password: your email password
- Click "Save" to save the changes.
Method 2: Using a third-party IMAP client
- Download and install a third-party IMAP client, such as Mozilla Thunderbird or Microsoft Outlook.
- Set up a new account in the client, selecting "IMAP" as the protocol.
- Fill in the IMAP settings:
- Server: imap-mail.outlook.com
- Port: 993 (SSL/TLS)
- Username: your email address
- Password: your email password
- Connect to your Hotmail account using the IMAP client.
Important notes:
- Hotmail's IMAP implementation is not as robust as other email providers, so you may encounter issues with syncing or accessing your email.
- Some features, such as calendar and contacts, may not be available through IMAP.
- If you're using a third-party IMAP client, you may need to configure additional settings or workarounds to get everything working correctly.
