Hotmail outlook express setting
A blast from the past! Hotmail and Outlook Express were popular email clients in the early 2000s. Here are the settings you need to configure Hotmail in Outlook Express:
Incoming Mail Server:
- Server name:
pop3.live.com
- Port:
110
- Username: Your Hotmail email address (e.g.,
[email protected]
) - Password: Your Hotmail password
Outgoing Mail Server:
- Server name:
smtp.live.com
- Port:
587
(or25
if your ISP allows it) - Username: Your Hotmail email address (e.g.,
[email protected]
) - Password: Your Hotmail password
Additional Settings:
- Leave a copy of messages on the server: Check this box if you want to keep a copy of your emails on the Hotmail server.
- Remove from server after retrieving: Check this box if you want to delete emails from the Hotmail server after you retrieve them in Outlook Express.
Steps to configure Hotmail in Outlook Express:
- Open Outlook Express and go to Tools > Accounts.
- Click Add and select Mail.
- Enter your name and email address (e.g.,
[email protected]
). - Click Next and enter the incoming mail server settings:
- Server type: POP3
- Server name:
pop3.live.com
- Port:
110
- Username: Your Hotmail email address
- Password: Your Hotmail password
- Click Next and enter the outgoing mail server settings:
- Server type: SMTP
- Server name:
smtp.live.com
- Port:
587

if your ISP allows it) - Username: Your Hotmail email address
- Password: Your Hotmail password
- Click Finish to complete the setup.
That's it! You should now be able to access your Hotmail account in Outlook Express.
