Hotmail pop3 outlook 2013

A classic setup!

To set up Hotmail (now Outlook.com) with POP3 in Outlook 2013, follow these steps:

Step 1: Create an app password

To use POP3 with Hotmail, you need to create an app password. This is a 16-character password that you'll use instead of your regular Hotmail password.

1. Sign in to your Hotmail account.
2. Click on your profile picture or initials in the top right corner, then select "View account" from the dropdown menu.
3. Click on "Security" from the menu on the left.
4. Under "App passwords", click on "Generate" and follow the prompts to create a new app password.
5. Note down the app password, as you'll need it later.

Step 2: Set up Outlook 2013 with POP3

1. Open Outlook 2013 and go to "File" > "Add Account".
2. Select "Manual setup or additional server types" and click "Next".
3. Choose "POP" as the account type and click "Next".
4. Enter the following settings:
   • Your name: Your name as you want it to appear in the "From" field.
   • Email address: Your Hotmail email address.
   • POP3 server: pop-mail.outlook.com
   • Port: 995
   • Username: Your Hotmail email address.
   • Password: The app password you created earlier.
5. Click "Next" and then "Finish" to complete the setup.

Step 3: Configure Outlook 2013 to use IMAP

To sync your Hotmail emails with Outlook 2013, you'll need to configure IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) settings. IMAP allows you to access and manage your emails on multiple devices.

1. Go to "File" > "Account Settings" > "Account Settings" again.
2. Select your Hotmail account and click "Change".
3. Under "More Settings", click on the "Advanced" tab.
4. Under "Incoming mail", select "IMAP" as the server type.
5. Enter the following settings:
   • IMAP server: imap-mail.outlook.com
   • Port: 993
   • Username: Your Hotmail email address.
   • Password: The app password you created earlier.
6. Click "OK" to save the changes.

That's it! Your Hotmail account should now be set up with POP3 and IMAP in Outlook 2013.
