Hotmail pop3 outlook 2018
A blast from the past!
Hotmail was one of the first free web-based email services, launched in 1996. In 2012, Microsoft acquired Hotmail and merged it with Outlook.com, another web-based email service. Today, Outlook.com is the successor to Hotmail.
To set up Hotmail (Outlook.com) in Outlook 2018 using POP3, follow these steps:
Prerequisites:
- You have an Outlook.com (Hotmail) account.
- You have Outlook 2018 installed on your computer.
Step 1: Enable POP3 in Outlook.com
- Log in to your Outlook.com account.
- Click on the gear icon () in the top right corner and select "View all Outlook settings."
- Scroll down to the "Accounts" section and click on "Connected accounts."
- Toggle the switch next to "POP" to the "On" position.
- Click "Save" to save your changes.
Step 2: Set up Outlook 2018 to use POP3
- Open Outlook 2018 on your computer.
- Click on "File" > "Add Account" > "Manual setup or additional server types."
- Select "POP" as the account type and click "Next."
- Enter the following settings:
- Your Name: Your name as you want it to appear in the "From" field.
- Email Address: Your Outlook.com email address (e.g., [yourname]@outlook.com).
- POP3 Server: pop.outlook.com
- Port: 995
- Username: Your Outlook.com email address (e.g., [yourname]@outlook.com).
- Password: Your Outlook.com password.
- Click "Next" and then "Finish" to complete the setup process.
Step 3: Configure Outlook 2018 to send emails using SMTP
- In Outlook 2018, click on "File" > "Account Settings" > "Account Settings" again.
- Select your Outlook.com account and click "Change."
- Select "More Settings" and then click on the "Outgoing Server" tab.
- Select "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" and select "Use same settings as my incoming mail server."
- Click "OK" to save your changes.
That's it! You should now be able to access your Hotmail (Outlook.com) account using POP3 in Outlook 2018.
