Hotmail pop3 outlook express

A blast from the past!

Hotmail was one of the first free web-based email services, launched in 1996. In the early 2000s, Microsoft acquired Hotmail and integrated it with its Outlook email client. Here's how you can set up Hotmail (now Outlook.com) in Outlook Express:

Step 1: Configure Hotmail in Outlook Express

  1. Open Outlook Express and go to Tools > Accounts.
  2. Click Add and select Mail.
  3. Enter your Hotmail email address and password.
  4. Click Next and select POP3 as the account type.
  5. Enter the following settings:
    • Incoming mail server: pop3.live.com
    • Outgoing mail server: smtp.live.com
    • Username: your Hotmail email address
    • Password: your Hotmail password
  6. Click Next and then Finish.

Step 2: Configure Outlook Express to use Hotmail

  1. In Outlook Express, go to Tools > Options.
  2. Click on the Mail tab.
  3. Under Send and receive, select My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
  4. Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
  5. Click OK to save the changes.
