How can i change storage folder in window live mail

A blast from the past! Windows Live Mail is an older email client, but I'll help you with the steps to change the storage folder.

Method 1: Change the storage folder using Windows Live Mail

  1. Open Windows Live Mail.
  2. Click on "File" > "Options" > "Data Files".
  3. In the "Data Files" window, click on the "Browse" button next to "Default data file location".
  4. Navigate to the new location where you want to store your email data files (e.g., a different folder on your computer or an external hard drive).
  5. Select the new location and click "OK".
  6. Click "OK" again to close the "Data Files" window.

Method 2: Change the storage folder using Windows Explorer

  1. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the current location of your Windows Live Mail data files (usually C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail).
  2. Create a new folder in the desired location where you want to store your email data files.
  3. Cut and paste the existing data files (.eml and .edb files) from the old location to the new location.
  4. Update the shortcut to the new location in Windows Live Mail:
    • Right-click on the Windows Live Mail shortcut on your desktop or Start menu.
    • Select "Properties".
    • In the "Target" field, update the path to point to the new location of your data files.
    • Click "OK" to close the Properties window.

After changing the storage folder, Windows Live Mail will continue to store new emails and data in the new location. However, you may need to reconfigure any email accounts or settings that were previously stored in the old location.

Remember to back up your email data files regularly to prevent data loss in case something goes wrong.
