Avast Mail Shield is a component of the Avast antivirus software that scans your email for malware and other threats. Here are a few ways to check if Avast Mail Shield is running:

  1. Check the Avast UI: Open the Avast antivirus software on your computer. Click on the "Protection" tab and then click on "Mail Shield". If it's enabled, you'll see a green checkmark next to it.
  2. Check the system tray: Look for the Avast icon in the system tray (also known as the notification area) at the bottom right corner of your screen. If you hover over the icon, you'll see a pop-up menu with various options, including "Mail Shield". If it's enabled, you'll see a checkmark next to it.
  3. Check the Windows Task Manager: Press the Ctrl + Shift + Esc keys to open the Task Manager. Click on the "Processes" tab and look for the "avast! Mail Shield" process. If it's running, you'll see it listed here.
  4. Check the Windows Services: Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box, type "services.msc" and press Enter. In the Services window, scroll down and look for the "Avast Mail Shield" service. If it's running, you'll see the "Status" column showing "Running".
  5. Check the Avast logs: You can check the Avast logs to see if Mail Shield has been running recently. To do this, open the Avast UI, click on "Settings" (or "General" in older versions), and then click on "Logs". Look for the "Mail Shield" log file and check the timestamps to see if it's been running recently.

If you're unable to find Mail Shield running, you can try restarting your computer or reinstalling Avast antivirus software to ensure that it's properly installed and configured.
