How do i know if g mail has been read

Google Mail (Gmail) provides several ways to indicate when an email has been read. Here are a few methods:

  1. Read Receipt: When you send an email, you can request a read receipt from the recipient. To do this:
    • Compose a new email or reply to an existing one.
    • Click on the three vertical dots at the bottom of the compose window.
    • Select "Request read receipt" from the dropdown menu.
    • The recipient will receive a notification asking if they want to grant you a read receipt.
    • If they grant the receipt, you'll receive a notification when they open the email.
  2. Read Receipt in Gmail: Gmail provides a built-in read receipt feature. To use it:
    • Compose a new email or reply to an existing one.
    • Click on the three vertical dots at the bottom of the compose window.
    • Select "Show original" from the dropdown menu.
    • In the "Original message" window, click on the "Details" tab.
    • Look for the "Read receipt" section. If the recipient has granted a read receipt, you'll see a timestamp indicating when they opened the email.
  3. Email Headers: You can also check the email headers to see if the email has been read. To do this:
    • Open the email in Gmail.
    • Click on the three vertical dots at the top right corner of the email.
    • Select "Show original" from the dropdown menu.
    • In the "Original message" window, click on the "Headers" tab.
    • Look for the "Delivered-To" and "Received" headers. If the email has been read, you'll see a timestamp indicating when it was opened.
  4. Gmail's "Seen" Indicator: Gmail provides a "Seen" indicator in the email list view. If an email has been read, you'll see a small checkmark () next to the email subject.
  5. Third-Party Extensions: There are several third-party browser extensions and add-ons available that can help you track when an email has been read. Some popular options include:
    • Boomerang: A browser extension that allows you to request read receipts and track email opens.
    • Sanebox: A browser extension that provides read receipts and other email tracking features.
    • Email Tracker: A browser extension that tracks email opens and provides read receipts.

Keep in mind that some email providers, including Gmail, may not always provide accurate read receipts or tracking information. Additionally, some recipients may choose to disable read receipts or tracking features.
