How do you add a hotmail account to mac mail
To add a Hotmail account to Mac Mail, follow these steps:
- Open Mac Mail on your Mac.
- Click on "Mail" in the top menu bar and select "Preferences" from the drop-down menu.
- Click on the "Accounts" tab.
- Click on the "+" button at the bottom left corner of the window.
- Select "Other Mail Account" from the list of options.
- Enter your Hotmail email address and password in the required fields.
- Click on "Continue".
- Mac Mail will attempt to configure your account automatically. If it's successful, you'll see a confirmation message.
- If the automatic configuration fails, you'll need to enter the following settings manually:
- Incoming Mail Server: imap-mail.outlook.com
- Outgoing Mail Server: smtp-mail.outlook.com
- User Name: your Hotmail email address
- Password: your Hotmail password
- Click on "Create" to save the changes.
- Mac Mail will now attempt to connect to your Hotmail account. If everything is set up correctly, you should see your Hotmail emails in the Mac Mail inbox.
Note: If you're using a Hotmail account that was created before 2013, you may need to use the following settings instead:
- Incoming Mail Server: pop3.live.com
- Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.live.com
Also, if you're having trouble connecting to your Hotmail account, you can try enabling IMAP or POP3 in your Hotmail account settings. To do this, follow these steps:
- Sign in to your Hotmail account.
- Click on the gear icon in the top right corner of the page.
- Select "More mail settings" from the drop-down menu.
- Click on the "Accounts" tab.
- Under "Account settings", click on the "Edit" button next to "POP and IMAP".
- Select the "Enable IMAP" or "Enable POP3" checkbox.
- Click on "Save" to save the changes.
Once you've enabled IMAP or POP3, try adding your Hotmail account to Mac Mail again using the steps above.
