How do you save contacts in windows live mail

Windows Live Mail is a discontinued email client, but I'll provide the steps to save contacts in case you still have an existing account or need to transfer contacts to another email client.

To save contacts in Windows Live Mail:

  1. Open Windows Live Mail and go to the "Contacts" folder.
  2. Select all contacts by pressing Ctrl+A or by clicking on the first contact and then Shift+Click on the last contact.
  3. Right-click on the selected contacts and choose "Export" from the context menu.
  4. In the "Export Contacts" window, select the format you want to save your contacts in:
    • CSV (Comma Separated Values): This is a widely supported format that can be imported into most email clients.
    • Outlook CSV: This format is specific to Microsoft Outlook and may not be compatible with other email clients.
    • vCard (.vcf): This is a format that can be imported into most email clients, including Outlook, Gmail, and Yahoo Mail.
  5. Choose a location to save the exported contacts file, such as your desktop or documents folder.
  6. Click "Export" to save the contacts file.

Alternatively, you can also save contacts individually:

  1. Open Windows Live Mail and go to the "Contacts" folder.
  2. Select a contact by clicking on it.
  3. Right-click on the selected contact and choose "Save As" from the context menu.
  4. In the "Save As" window, select the format you want to save the contact in (e.g., CSV, vCard).
  5. Choose a location to save the contact file, such as your desktop or documents folder.
  6. Click "Save" to save the contact file.

To import contacts into another email client, follow these general steps:

  1. Open the new email client (e.g., Outlook, Gmail, Yahoo Mail).
  2. Go to the "Contacts" or "Address Book" section.
  3. Look for an "Import" or "Add Contacts" option.
  4. Select the format of the contacts file you exported from Windows Live Mail (e.g., CSV, vCard).
  5. Choose the contacts file you exported and follow the prompts to import the contacts.

Note: If you're transferring contacts to a new email client, you may need to recreate your contact groups or categories, as these may not be preserved during the import process.
