How do you set up hotmail on windows live mail

A blast from the past! Windows Live Mail is an older email client, and Hotmail is now known as Outlook.com. However, I can guide you through the process of setting up Hotmail (Outlook.com) on Windows Live Mail.

Prerequisites:

1. Make sure you have Windows Live Mail installed on your computer.
2. You have a Hotmail (Outlook.com) account with a valid email address and password.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Open Windows Live Mail on your computer.
2. Click on "Email" in the top menu bar and select "Accounts" from the drop-down menu.
3. Click on "Add a new email account" and select "Manual setup or additional server types".
4. Select "POP" or "IMAP" as the account type (IMAP is recommended for syncing emails across devices).
5. Enter the following settings:
   • Your Name: Enter your name as you want it to appear in the "From" field of your emails.
   • Email Address: Enter your Hotmail (Outlook.com) email address.
   • Password: Enter your Hotmail (Outlook.com) password.
   • POP3 Server: outlook.office365.com (for Hotmail/Outlook.com accounts)
   • POP3 Port: 995
   • SMTP Server: smtp.office365.com (for Hotmail/Outlook.com accounts)
   • SMTP Port: 587
   • Authentication: Select "Use same settings as my incoming mail server"
6. Click "Next" to continue.
7. In the "Account Options" window, you can choose to leave a copy of the emails on the server or delete them after downloading.
8. Click "Finish" to complete the setup process.

Additional Tips:

• Make sure to enable POP3 or IMAP access in your Hotmail (Outlook.com) account settings. You can do this by signing in to your account, clicking on the gear icon, and selecting "View all Outlook settings". Then, go to "Mail" > "Accounts" and toggle the switch next to "POP and IMAP" to the "On" position.
• If you're using IMAP, you may need to configure the IMAP settings in Windows Live Mail. To do this, go to "Tools" > "Accounts" > "Properties" > "Advanced" and enter the following settings:
  • IMAP Server: outlook.office365.com
  • IMAP Port: 993
