How many stamps required for mail
The number of stamps required for mail depends on the weight and size of the mailpiece, as well as the destination. Here are some general guidelines:
First-Class Mail
- Letters (up to 1 oz): 1 stamp (currently $0.55)
- Large envelopes (up to 1 oz): 1 stamp (currently $0.55)
- Flats (up to 13 oz): 1 stamp (currently $0.55) for the first ounce, plus $0.15 for each additional ounce
Priority Mail
- Small boxes (up to 1 lb): 1 stamp (currently $7.50)
- Medium boxes (1-2 lbs): 2 stamps (currently $15.00)
- Large boxes (2-3 lbs): 3 stamps (currently $22.50)
- Extra Large boxes (3-4 lbs): 4 stamps (currently $30.00)
Priority Mail Express
- Small boxes (up to 1 lb): 2 stamps (currently $25.50)
- Medium boxes (1-2 lbs): 3 stamps (currently $38.50)
- Large boxes (2-3 lbs): 4 stamps (currently $51.50)
- Extra Large boxes (3-4 lbs): 5 stamps (currently $64.50)
International Mail
- First-Class International Mail: 1 stamp (currently $1.20) for the first ounce, plus $0.20 for each additional ounce
- Priority Mail International: 1 stamp (currently $24.95) for the first pound, plus $4.95 for each additional pound
Special Services
- Certified Mail: add $3.45 to the regular postage rate
- Return Receipt: add $1.45 to the regular postage rate
- Signature Confirmation: add $3.45 to the regular postage rate
