How to add a gmail account to apple mail
To add a Gmail account to Apple Mail on your Mac or iOS device, follow these steps:
On a Mac:
- Open Apple Mail on your Mac.
- Click on "Mail" in the top menu bar and select "Preferences" (or use the keyboard shortcut Command + comma).
- Click on the "Accounts" tab.
- Click the "+" button at the bottom left corner of the window.
- Select "Other Mail Account" from the dropdown menu.
- Enter your Gmail address and password in the required fields.
- Click "Continue".
- Select "IMAP" as the account type (this allows you to access your Gmail inbox and send emails from Apple Mail).
- Enter the following settings:
- Host Name: imap.gmail.com
- User Name: your Gmail address
- Password: your Gmail password
- Port: 993
- Click "Add Account".
- You may be prompted to enter additional settings, such as your name and email address. Fill in these fields and click "Create".
On an iOS device:
- Open the "Settings" app on your iOS device.
- Tap on "Mail, Contacts, Calendars".
- Tap on "Add Account".
- Select "Google" from the list of available accounts.
- Enter your Gmail address and password in the required fields.

- Select "IMAP" as the account type (this allows you to access your Gmail inbox and send emails from Apple Mail).
- Enter the following settings:
- Host Name: imap.gmail.com
- User Name: your Gmail address
- Password: your Gmail password
- Port: 993

Additional settings:
- If you want to access your Gmail contacts and calendar, you'll need to enable IMAP and POP3 in your Gmail settings. To do this, follow these steps:

- Click on the gear icon in the top right corner and select "Settings".
- Click on the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab.
