How to add default mail windows mail

A blast from the past!

Windows Mail is a legacy email client that was included with Windows Vista and Windows 7. It's not available by default in newer versions of Windows, such as Windows 10. However, you can still use Windows Mail in Windows 10 by installing it from the Windows 7 installation media or by using a third-party emulator.

Here are the steps to add Windows Mail as a default mail client in Windows 10:

Method 1: Install Windows Mail from Windows 7 installation media

  1. Insert the Windows 7 installation media (DVD or USB drive) into your computer.
  2. Go to the "Sources" folder on the installation media and run the file "setup.exe".
  3. Follow the installation prompts to install Windows Mail.
  4. Once installed, you can set Windows Mail as your default mail client by going to Settings > Mail > Default Mail Client and selecting "Windows Mail".

Method 2: Use a third-party emulator

  1. Download and install a third-party emulator like "Windows Mail Emulator" or "Windows Live Mail Emulator" from a reputable source.
  2. Follow the installation prompts to install the emulator.
  3. Once installed, you can set the emulator as your default mail client by going to Settings > Mail > Default Mail Client and selecting the emulator.

Method 3: Use a third-party email client

  1. Download and install a third-party email client like Mozilla Thunderbird or Microsoft Outlook.
  2. Configure the email client to use your email account.
  3. Set the email client as your default mail client by going to Settings > Mail > Default Mail Client and selecting the email client.

Note: Windows Mail is not compatible with newer versions of Windows, and it may not work properly with modern email protocols and security features. It's recommended to use a more modern and secure email client like Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird.
