How to add your gmail to mail
To add your Gmail account to Mail (the default email app on Macs), follow these steps:
Method 1: Add Gmail account using Mail settings
- Open Mail on your Mac.
- Click on "Mail" in the top menu bar and select "Preferences" (or use the keyboard shortcut Command + comma).
- Click on the "Accounts" tab.
- Click on the "+" button at the bottom left corner of the window.
- Select "Other Mail Account" from the dropdown menu.
- Enter your Gmail address and password.
- Click "Continue".
- Mail will ask you to allow access to your Gmail account. Click "Allow".
- You will be asked to select the type of account you want to set up. Choose "IMAP" or "POP" depending on your preference.
- Click "Create" to add your Gmail account to Mail.
Method 2: Add Gmail account using Google's settings
- Open Gmail on your Mac.
- Click on the gear icon in the top right corner of the window.
- Select "See all settings".
- Click on the "Accounts and Import" tab.
- Click on "Add a POP or IMAP email account".
- Enter your email address and password.
- Click "Next".
- Select "IMAP" or "POP" depending on your preference.
- Click "Add Account".
- You will be redirected to the Mail app on your Mac. Click "Open Mail" to add your Gmail account.
Troubleshooting tips
- If you're having trouble adding your Gmail account, make sure that IMAP or POP is enabled in your Gmail settings.
