How to archive and remove mail thunderbird

Archiving and removing emails in Thunderbird can help you manage your inbox and free up space on your computer. Here's how to do it:

Archiving emails in Thunderbird:

  1. Select the emails you want to archive by checking the boxes next to them.
  2. Right-click on the selected emails and choose "Archive" from the context menu.
  3. Alternatively, you can also use the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl + Shift + A" (Windows) or "Cmd + Shift + A" (Mac) to archive the selected emails.
  4. Thunderbird will move the selected emails to the "Archived" folder, which is located in the "Local Folders" section of your account.

Removing emails in Thunderbird:

  1. Select the emails you want to remove by checking the boxes next to them.
  2. Right-click on the selected emails and choose "Delete" from the context menu.
  3. Alternatively, you can also use the keyboard shortcut "Delete" (Windows) or "Cmd + Delete" (Mac) to delete the selected emails.
  4. Thunderbird will move the selected emails to the "Trash" folder, which is located in the "Local Folders" section of your account.
  5. To permanently delete the emails, go to the "Trash" folder and select the emails you want to delete.
  6. Right-click on the selected emails and choose "Empty Trash" from the context menu.

Permanently deleting emails in Thunderbird:

  1. Go to the "Edit" menu and select "Preferences" (Windows) or "Thunderbird" > "Preferences" (Mac).
  2. In the "Preferences" window, click on the "Advanced" tab.
  3. Scroll down to the "Config Editor" section and click on the "I'll be careful, I promise!" button.
  4. In the "Config Editor" window, search for the "mail.server.default.delete.on.move" preference and set it to "true".
  5. Close the "Config Editor" window and restart Thunderbird.
  6. Now, when you delete an email, it will be permanently deleted and not moved to the "Trash" folder.

Note: Before permanently deleting emails, make sure you have backed up your Thunderbird data and are sure you want to delete the emails.
