How to check if mail is read gmail

There are a few ways to check if an email has been read in Gmail:

  1. Check the email's "Viewed" status: In the Gmail web interface, you can check the "Viewed" status of an email by clicking on the three vertical dots next to the email's timestamp. If the email has been read, it will say "Viewed" next to the timestamp.
  2. Check the email's "Read" status: In the Gmail web interface, you can also check the "Read" status of an email by clicking on the email's subject line. If the email has been read, it will be marked as "Read" in the subject line.
  3. Use the Gmail API: You can use the Gmail API to check if an email has been read. The API provides a "labels" endpoint that returns a list of labels associated with an email, including the "Read" label. You can use this endpoint to check if the email has been read.
  4. Check the email's "Thread" status: In the Gmail web interface, you can also check the "Thread" status of an email by clicking on the email's subject line. If the email has been read, it will be marked as "Read" in the thread view.
  5. Use a third-party add-on: There are several third-party add-ons available for Gmail that allow you to track whether an email has been read. For example, you can use the "Read Receipt" add-on to send a read receipt to the sender when you read an email.

Here are some examples of how to use these methods:

Method 1: Check the email's "Viewed" status

Method 2: Check the email's "Read" status

Method 3: Use the Gmail API

Method 4: Check the email's "Thread" status

Method 5: Use a third-party add-on

Note that some of these methods may not work if the email has been deleted or if the sender has disabled read receipts.
