To delete a Mail account on a Mac, follow these steps:
Method 1: Delete an account from the Mail app
- Open the Mail app on your Mac.
- Click on the "Mail" menu at the top of the screen and select "Preferences" (or use the keyboard shortcut Command + Comma).
- In the Mail Preferences window, click on the "Accounts" tab.
- Select the account you want to delete from the list of accounts on the left side of the window.

Additional steps for deleting an iCloud account
If you're deleting an iCloud account, you'll need to follow these additional steps:
- Go to the Apple ID website (www.apple.com) and sign in with your Apple ID and password.
- Click on "Account" at the top of the page and select "Edit" next to "Account Settings".
- Scroll down to the "Security" section and click on "Manage" next to "Two-Factor Authentication".
- Click on "Turn Off Two-Factor Authentication" and follow the prompts to disable it.
- Go back to the Mail app on your Mac and delete the iCloud account using one of the methods above.
Important notes
- Deleting an account will remove all associated data, including emails, contacts, and calendar events.
- If you're deleting an iCloud account, you'll need to sign out of iCloud on all devices and apps that use your Apple ID.
- If you're deleting a Gmail or other third-party account, you may need to sign out of the account on the provider's website or app as well.
