How to delete email account from mail
To delete an email account from Mail (the default email app on Macs), follow these steps:
Method 1: Delete an email account from Mail preferences
- Open Mail on your Mac.
- Click on "Mail" in the top menu bar and select "Preferences" (or use the keyboard shortcut Command + comma).
- Click on the "Accounts" tab.
- Select the email account you want to delete from the list of accounts.
- Click the "minus sign" (-) button at the bottom left corner of the window to remove the account.
- Confirm that you want to delete the account by clicking "Delete" in the pop-up dialog box.
Method 2: Delete an email account from the Mail settings
- Open Mail on your Mac.
- Click on the "Mail" menu in the top menu bar and select "Settings" (or use the keyboard shortcut Command + comma).
- Click on the "Accounts" tab.
- Select the email account you want to delete from the list of accounts.
- Click the "Edit" button next to the account.
- Click the "Delete" button at the bottom of the window.
- Confirm that you want to delete the account by clicking "Delete" in the pop-up dialog box.
Note: Before deleting an email account, make sure you have backed up any important emails or data you want to keep. Also, if you're deleting a Gmail account, you'll need to go to the Google account settings page to delete the account completely.
